Next Uke-up Tomorrow

Don’t forget, it’s Uke Up tomorrow, 7pm at The Kingsway.
We’ll be working from Songbook 2Songbook 4 and Songbook 6.

Also more suggestions for the Favourites Songbook most welcome.

The time is ripe for a new songbook. We have borrowed the idea of a songbook comprised of songs that are personal favourites of, or have some personal resonance for,  Uke-up members.

So pick a song that means something to you and send it to the usual address (or to the Facebook group). If you have chords or tab all the better.

So it’s up to you.

Thanks to everyone that came down for this and helped make it such an ace night, lovely to see some faces we’ve not seen for a while and some new faces too!

Well done to everyone that came and did a spot at the cabaret, it’s no mean feat to stand up in front of everyone on your own. It was really great to hear the talent that we’ve got, and to hear everyone play a little something from their own repertoire, it’s not always about the songbooks after all

Massive thanks again to Lou who put Levy Uke Up together and got everyone playing, you’ve done an awesome job, hopefully we’ll be able to pick it up where you left off!

Check out the photos - especially the amazing cake.

Long may it continue, roll on Birthday number 3!

Remember it’s Levy Uke-up’s 2nd Birthday Party Tonight

Don’t forget, it’s our rather special 2nd Birthday Ukulele Cabaret tonight, 7pm at The Kingsway.

There will even be CAKE!

Feel free to drop us a line if you haven’t already if you’d like a spot at the cabaret, although there’s not much time left to practise, so you better get on it!

We will be having a strum along after all of the cabaret bits, so bring along Book 7,  The Summer Songbook and The Greatest Hits Book if you fancy it :)

There’s also the
Facebook event if you wanted a reminder on the book of faces.

See you later

Levy Uke-up’s 2nd Birthday Party

Levy Uke-up is 2 years old.

To honour of this splendid occasion we are running a slightly different night. We will stage a Ukulele Cabaret, where we all get a chance to get up and perform something which isn’t in the songbooks (preferably, although you can use songbook songs if you really want…).

There’s a Facebook event under this link for the cabaret, if you’d like to come along, let us know. We would LOVE to hear you all play!
Drop us a note in the event if you’d like to do a number and haven’t already let us know.

Get down to the Kingsway for 7pm as per usual, this Sunday 23rd March for the Cabaret, followed by a right good sing song and strum along! Bring Book 7,  The Summer Songbook (I know it’s not quite here yet…) and The Greatest Hits Book, just for a bit of variety.

This was the last Birthday do, lets make this one just as good, and if you’ve not been down to see us for a while, it would be lovely to see you!

See you on Sunday!

Under New Management (almost)?

We just wanted to say an absolutely MASSIVE THANK YOU to Lou for the rather immense amount of time, effort and passion that she’s put into Levy Uke Up over the past nearly two years, without her talent, vision and drive this would never have become what it is today, I just hope we can live up to the wonderfully high standards that she’s instilled in everyone that’s come along so far and everything that we’ve all been a part of!

And just in case you don’t know who we are yet…

Manitoba Hal Workshop

A few more details about the Manitoba Hal workshop planned for the 7th of June. The format will be a 90 minute workshop run by Hal followed by a 30 minute break then an approximately one hour gig by Hal. We should be able to cover all costs if we charge £10 for the workshop, £5 for the gig or £15 for both, This means other people can see Hal even if they didn’t attend the workshop! The workshop will be limited to 40 places at the maximum on a first come, first served basis and we’ll be taking names from now.

The only thing we have left to finalise is the time (although it’s looking to be afternoon currently) and a venue. So, if you’d like to go, send an email to the shiny new LevyUkeUp@gmail.com address. Once all details are finalised, we will be asking for pre-payment to secure your place. Watch this space for more info as we get it!
