Good Neighbours set-list survey results

In total, people voted (thanks!) and we have the following results…
(Ranking on the left, no. of votes on the right…)

Everything in red gets the chop. Everything in green is definitely in and the stuff in orangewe should definitely practice. The reason they’re orange is that they are tied for 11th -17th place, so we can make a decision on which ones we prefer.

We should probably continue to practice “With a little help from my Friends” as an encore as well. I’m sure that they’d like a Beatles tune, we just forgot to put one in…

So, for Sunday, Bring the huge book, we’ll practice these from it. Ed will make up a songbook specifically for the gig as usual once we’ve finalised the choices at the end of the night.

Unfortunately I won’t be there but Ed will.

Levenshulme Good Neighbours gig set-list survey

Remember that gig for Levenshulme Good Neighbours on Nov 8th?
Well in the link below there’s a survey on what we want to play to fill our 40 minute time slot.

Please take a look (otherwise Ed will choose…). I personally think Blue Moon is a good choice.

Survey closes on Saturday 11th Oct, the day before the first practice.

Another possible gig Sat Nov 8th

We’ve had a message from Levenshulme Good Neighbours who support older members of the community to help them live independent lives. As follows:

"Levenshulme Good Neighbours are having Afternoon Tea at Mosley Court Sheltered accommodation as part of Levfest on the 8th Nov between 2 and 3.30. It is the first time a local sheltered accommodation has got involved in a lev wide activity and they are very keen.

It is open to everyone that wants to come along and join us for tea, cake and music. We would like to invite Uke Up to perform at the event for about half an hour or so. Is this something the group might consider?…”

So, Does anyone fancy it?
I know that we have only 2 Uke Ups between then and now, but we could squeeze an extra one in if necessary and we should easily have enough that we’re comfortable with to perform, especially after the last couple of gigs. We might also tailor the songs a bit, so that they know the songs (so no Ace of Spades this time)

Please let us know by email here or on the Facebook group and we’ll confirm (or otherwise) with Levy Good Neighbours.
Cheers

Uke-up tomorrow

It’s Uke Up tomorrow, 7pm at the Kingsway as per usual…

Bring the Huge Book and we’ll go from there. It’s been updated recently to include a couple of songs from the GNUF 2014 songbook so do download the new version if you haven’t in the last few days.

See you all tomorrow.

Uke-up Sunday

First off…

It’s Uke up on Sunday, 7pm at the Kingsway as per usual…
Neither myself or Ed will be there on Sunday. However, the space is there for us to use. so please do! Bring the huge book and play what you want!

Secondly

A massive thanks to everyone that came down to the Allotment show and played or listened, it went down very well and we’ve been invited back for next year.

Here’s a photo of most of us on stage, it was a bit cramped, but a lot of fun! Who;s the slightly puzzled person at the back on the right hand side?

Next Uke-up and another potential gig

We’ve have a few new sign-ups on the mailing list, so hello to all you newcomers, hopefully we’ll see you one Sunday soon!

It’s Uke up on Sunday, 7pm at the Kingsway as per usual…

We’ll be working from the new Allotment Songbook (the songs in it have also now been added to the Huge Book V2 as well).

We’ll need to whittle the Allotment songs down to a definite set list for the Allotment show on the 6th Sep (see the last mailout!).

Bear in mind that bear in mind that there are 7 new songs so you might want to have a look at them before Sunday.  The youtube playlist for the book is here: Allotment Songbook YouTube Playlist.

We have also been asked to do a potential gig to raise money to refurbish the organ at St George’s church in Stockport, so might might have to cut a few of the more risqué numbers… us know if you’re interested…

See you Sunday!

Highfield Allotment Show Details

Here are some further details on the Highfield Allotment Society show!

Where
Highfield Allotments (Map)

When
Sunday 7th September 2014 (not 6th Sept as previously mentioned)
Sound Check at 1pm
Gig at 2:30pm

Duration
We have 30 minutes, so about 10 songs or so…

Provisional song list
You should probably check out the Allotment Songbook.
It’s a short-list of 18 songs including a couple of new ones for the show. We should look to reduce this to about 10 songs for the day.
There is also the Allotment Songbook YouTube Playlist here as well…

So, the plan is to go through the Allotment Songbook and make some decisions on which songs we want to perform at the next Uke Up on Sunday 10th August.

Please take a look through the YouTube Playlist and get familiar with the songs so that we can get a good head start on this, after all, we only have 2 official Uke Ups between now and the show!!!
We’ll organise a couple of other practices in between as well I reckon…

See you on the 10th!
