Uke-up tomorrow

Don’t forget, it’s Uke Up tomorrow, 7pm at The Kingsway as per usual!

We’ll be working from the new Huge Songbook, if you have something electronic to view it on (or are planning to print and haven’t yet…). you might want to get hold of the Huge Songbook V2 Draft which has all of the corrections from last uke up…

Considering we have the offer of playing at the Blackthorn Music Festival on the 26th of July, we’ll be wanting to see who can get involved. Unfortunately, neither Ed or myself can make it on the day, doesn’t mean we can’t put on a good show though!

(Also, just noticed that the newly re-formed A Witness are playing as well - making it even more gutting that I can’t make it)

We’ll likely be sticking to the content of the favourites book, so if you don’t have a copy of the Huge book yet in whichever form, bring the favourites at least!

See you all tomorrow!

New potential festival gig - Blackthorn Music Festival- 26th July

Hi,

We’ve been offered yet another gig (thanks to Brian J.), and it sounds like a biggie!

We’ve been asked to play the acoustic stage at the Blackthorn Music Festival at Etherow Country Park in Compstall, Stockporton Saturday the 26th July.

Our slot would be around the 4:30 - 6pm at a time to suit us.

The festival is a ‘Glastonbury’ type festival with multiple stages and entertainment and camping areas. The festival is expected to have 2000 people there. Other bands that are playing include 90’s group Dodgy amongst others.

You can see more at http://www.blackthornmusicfestival.co.uk

Unfortunately I’m away that weekend but I’m sure we can round up enough volunteers and find someone to co-ordinate on the day.

It’s only 4 weeks away but perhaps we could do a set from our Greatest Hits as that worked well at the street party, and maybe fit
in another practice or two?

Thanks again to Brian for this opportunity (apologies for blatantly stealing the contents of your FB post)

Levy Uke-up tonight - big new songbook

Sorry for the late post - Levy-uke is on as usual tonight - same place same time (Kingsway 7pm).

And we have a big new songbook; actually a compendium of all our existing books, divided up into easy, middling and hard and with extra timing info. Enjoy.

Levy Uke-up at Lev-stock 21st June

Hello!

We have been asked to play at Lev-Stock at the Klondyke on Saturday 21st June.

Lev-Stock

Looks like it should be a good evening.

We would probably play a 20-30 minute set at around 9.30.

We could play a selection from the Greatest Hits, or, seeing as it’s the Summer Solstice we could pick some from the Summer Song-book (my suggestion of a Hawkwind set for the Solstice was not well received).

So who’s up for it?

Unfortunately I’m double booked that evening (so no BASS vibrations) and Ed’s in transit from the States so we’ll also need a volunteer to take help charge of things on the evening.

We can discuss further on Sunday.

BTW had a blast at today’s Street Party performance.

Gig Reminder - this Sunday 1st June - and other news

Hi,

Just a reminder for anybody who, like me, missed Sunday’s Uke-up. We have our gig on Sunday playing at The Levenshulme Square Residents’ Association street party.

The location is Cuthbert Avenue and runs from 1pm-3pm.
Here’s where it is;
Cuthbert Avenue

We’ll play 2 sets of ~20 minutes at about 1.30 and 2.30, all from Greatest Hits.

So arrive at 1pm, dress brightly (think Carnival) and bring music stands if possible and your best singing voices (and ukes).

In other news: Unfortunately we will not be doing the gig at Hennigans on the 20th. But do not be disheartened, there may be something else in the offing - watch this space.

(Oh and don’t forget it’s Manitoba Hal on the 7th! - spaces still available)

2 Potential Gigs in June, volunteers required

We have, not one one, but two potential Uke-up gigs in June,

1) Sunday June 1st. Lou, founder of our Uke-up has asked if we want to play at a street party (we would be fed and watered\9

2) Friday 20th June: We have a possible 20 minute slot at Hennigans Sports Bar as part of the Levenshulme Food and Drink Festival. Possibly six-seven songs.

For both we need willing Ukers. Possibly 5-6 for the Hennigans gig, as many as want to for the 1st. We’d also need to work out which songs.

And, both aren’t v. far away.

So anyone who fancies playing, get in youth as soon as possible.
